Floor Cushions for Pip and Eddie - Part 1

We've been busy printing up a storm in an attempt to make some super awesome floor cushions for my sister and her boyfriend for christmas. They have a fab studio in Potts Point with an even fabber deck with amazing views across Sydney to the Bridge. Anyway they want some floor cushions that they can put onto some pallets and put out on the deck. So ma and I spent Sunday printing up the Squares design in Coral......it looks sooo yummy........we were stoked about how well the whole process went, especially considering what a shocker we had had a few day earlier with the round cushions......but that's another story. So stayed tuned, tomorrow is a sew-a-thon and we plan to get it all done and dusted.....and in plenty of time for Christmas!

Balmain Market

Just a quick thank you to all the people that stopped by my market stall on Saturday at Balmain Markets. We had a great day! After running around like lunatics and market virgins trying to set up the stall during the first hour, we then sat back and enjoyed the day. Great weather - the rain stayed away - and we met some lovely people and even made a few sales, woooppeee!! We'll be back again next week if we can book in. Hope to see you there!

100% Hemp Tea Towels

Compared to the dog beds and cushions, printing these tea towels was a breeze, so quick and easy, it took me longer to mix the colours than to actually do the printing, lovin it!

The tea towels are made from 100% hemp which is naturally antibacterial so they are a great fabric to use in the kitchen. Also they get softer and more absorbent with more use and each wash. I'm testing a couple out now in my own kitchen before I start selling them at markets and online.

In other news, I have applied to hold a market stall at one of our fabulous markets here in Sydney so stay tuned and if they like what they see (I mean who wouldn't really) then hopefully I'll have some dates and locations in the near future! As far as the online selling goes I just need to sort out a few admin issues and I should have those up and running shortly.

Here it is! The first completed doggy bed!

Made from 100% Hemp fabric, hand printed with water based inks and hand sewn. These are luxury dog beds made with love by me and my mum. They are top quality, filled with buckwheat hulls that provide support and comfort for your favourite pooch, road tested by Clive himself. Hope you like them. Available soon on etsy.

Doggy Beds a go!

I've got the fabric, the ink, the stuffing, the patterns are sorted and the colours mixed and ready......bring on the dog beds.

Ok, I'm hitting the holidays running and want to get lots and lots happening in the way of dog beds, tea towels and cushion making. The cushions are all printed and waiting to be sewn up, the tea towel screens are in the process of being made and the blank 100% hemp tea towels are on there way.

So today we began on the dog beds. I hand mixed four funky colours all ready to print with and cut all the fabric ready for printing. The fabric is 100% hemp (sustainable, eco-friendly, antibacterial and natural).


I started with the logos.

 


Then used tape to create the design.

And here is the finished fabric.

Here's the logo for the "Comfort for Clive" dog bed range. I'm pretty happy with it, quite cute I think! Pretty busy with my real paid job at the moment but am slowly getting some stock produced and aim to have a market stall or two by the end of the year. Some busy weekends and holidays ahead but it's exciting.

Cushions, More Cushions and Dog Beds!

So I've been keeping pretty busy over the weekends for the last couple of months, with the help of my ma and Clive as our mascot we have printed and made lots of cushions in the Stripey Square design, started printing the fabric in the coordinate design and have even started making dog beds (just some prototypes so far). The cushions are a hemp/yak hair blend.

Last weekend in between printing sessions we did a bit of a photo shoot of the collection so far.

Comfort for Clive

I have decided to combine two of the things I love in life....Design and my dog Clive! How will I do this you ask? Well I have decided to make some funky designer beds for dogs.

The print will be simple yet bold and contemporary.

The fabric all natural 

(hemp is the plan at this stage, but the prototypes are in cotton).

The filling - still deciding on this but obviously comfort and durability are key.

I have finished making the first two prototypes today and am super happy with them and so is Clive. I have not been able to get him off it. Not sure if it's the comfort or the cool design but he loves it.

Coordinate Print

 Here we have the coordinate print. This is designed to work alongside the original square print. The coordinate was much trickier to line up and repeat but we got there in the end!
